I recently binge-watched this new Netflix show "Special" and LOVED IT. First, it is 8 episodes, 15 minutes each, so you can literally watch it in 2 hours. Second, it is a show starring and created by a gay man with Cerebral Palsy, and so tackles ableism (and lots of other things) in the gay community head-on. It also is very funny and entertaining. Wait yes I was just binge watching this last night :O I really really liked it too and really appreciated an opportunity to watch a narrative about gayness and disability. The show is very funny, too, which is awesome. It definitely follows a trend of the most palatable version of progress getting lauded in the mainstream as "radical" (i.e., queer disability gets its Netflix moment when it's about a skinny white gay), but I guess that's par for the course.
