This article reminded me a ton of the Anita Bryant reading we did over a month ago. Bryant advocates that no LGBTQ community members should be allowed to teach in a private school setting.
ReplyDeleteAside from that, I think learning about sex education in the classroom is a great idea because a lot of questions are easier to ask to a teacher than to your parents. I had a sex ed course in 6th grade and although I still remember them having us watch a traumatic birthing video, overall I thought it was an appropriate setting, especially since not all parents would go over such things with their children. This in school sex ed method ensures a baseline knowledge for all the children.
