We celebrated Michael Phelps’s genetic differences. Why punish Caster Semenya for hers?

I found this piece to be tangentially related to some of the material we have read in the course, as it covers issues of gender and does a good job illustrating the blurry lines that compose this construct.

  1. This is a really great article, thanks for sharing. It's wild the discrimination that semenya has faced, and definitely brings to the forefront the arbitrary nature of the labels we attach to people through numerical levels of hormones

  3. Hi Sam, thank you for sharing! As Kate mentioned, the discrimination Semenya has faced throughout her career is absolutely appalling, and the article you shared provides an interesting take.
